Commentary by Kevin McShane

This strip represented two very important developments:

1. The less than merciful death of the “CDS Series.” Not only had I flogged this horse to death, but I had beaten down his owner, his entire family, his neighbors, the people who read about it in the paper, and anyone who even mentioned it for the next three years. Then, I dug up all their bodies and did it again.

2. The last appearance of Ogle the Frugle. Ogle was the first comic strip character I had ever created. Back in sixth grade. The original idea was to have him play a part in Toupy, but as time went on, I came to realize that he just didn’t fit. So I dropped him from the strip. He wouldn’t return again for another three years. By then, the cast was replaced by robots.
